First Things First: How to Calculate What You Need
No matter which moulding you’re ordering, start with the same simple formula:
- Add all four sides of your frame (twice the width + twice the height).
-
Add extra length
+1 foot for mouldings under 2" wide
+2 feet for mouldings 2–4" wide - Divide by 12 to get the number of feet.
-
Round up based on stick length:
Nielsen sticks are 10 feet long
Nurre Caxton sticks are approximately 9 feet long
Length Moulding Options
Nielsen
- Full Sticks: 10 ft, minimum order = 1 stick
- Cut & Balance: Best for saving on shipping; cut lengths ≤57"
- Ships via LTL carrier when over standard size
Nurre Caxton
- Full Sticks: ~9 ft, minimum order = 1 stick
- Cut & Balance: Also best at ≤57" to avoid oversize charges

For both brands, anything over 48" (including packaging) may incur an oversize shipping charge.
