Matboard Patent. Richard Bainbridge patents matboard.
1891
Chicago Matboard Co. Charles T. Ozmun founded the Chicago Matboard Company in Chicago, Illinois.
1902
Crescent Cardboard. Crescent Cardboard introduced and focused on matboard and artboard for professional and consumer framing.
1940
First Ever Pre-mounted fabric matboard introduced.
1960s
Alphamat Introduced. First ever conservation board with a colored surface.
1970s
Artcare Technology Introduced. The first proactive conservation technology released.
1990s
Crescent Brands. Crescent Cardboard, Bainbridge, Nielsen, and Nurre Caxton become one, forming what we know today as Crescent Brands.
2021
CRESCENT ACQUIRES U.S. OPERATIONS OF NIELSEN BAINBRIDGE
Crescent Cardboard Company is pleased to announce it has acquired the U.S. businesses of Nielsen Bainbridge, a leading producer of products for framing professionals and conservators. Nielsen Bainbridge has combined advanced scientific research and innovative design to deliver groundbreaking products used by custom framers and museums worldwide. We feel this acquisition will enhance Crescent’s worldwide leadership in the manufacturing and marketing of high-quality paper and board products for artists, custom framers and institutions worldwide.
CRESCENT CARDBOARD COMPANY REBRANDS AS CRESCENT BRANDS
In a subsequent move, Crescent Cardboard Company will be rebranding as Crescent Brands. Crescent Brands will operate as a portfolio company that will utilize its resources to manufacture, supply, promote and support brands such as Crescent, Bainbridge, Artcare, Nielsen, Nurre Caxton, Valiani, and more. We are making this change due to our respect and admiration for the Nielsen, Bainbridge and Nurre Caxton brands. We intend to operate these brands independently to keep continuity in the products many have come to know and love. More information to follow as we make this transition.
